Thurston's Mother's Day Portrait

My mother, not a huge fan of folk art, more a fan of macabre art (which I just cannot paint-probably thankfully...), requested a print/painting on a cupboard door to match the smoking nun I painted for her a while ago.

I thought I'd surprise her and paint a portrait of Thurston Howell the 3rd, the kitty she picked. Then...after completing her Thurston portrait, I decided to make another! He's got the sweetest (see largest) face that I couldn't resist painting again!

I think this might be the start of another series, Portraits of Cats. Trying to make cats a bit more realistic than my normal kitties. I'm not a realist by any stretch of the imagination, but painting a cat that actually *looks* like a cat is fun!
